ABOUT
ERICA LENNARD
In this retrospective exhibition of Erica Lennard's garden photographs,
her 20 years of exploration into the beauty of nature, both natural
and designed by man, is examined. Lennard has photographed the majestic
formal gardens of Europe, Zen gardens of Japan, the Imperial gardens
of China, and informal artist's gardens, with her vistas, grottos,
allees, symmetrical and random plantings. Her very personal vision
is achieved through true mastery of the art of photography. Her
classical compositions give us a world of pure form captured, with
the velvet blacks and luminous whites that are central to her vision.
Erica Lennard was born in New York and Educated at the San Francisco
Art Institute. Her many publications include Classic Gardens (Lustrum
Press), Artist's Gardens (Abrams), and Gardens by the Sea (Clarkson
Potter).
