Long-Bin Chen is an internationally acclaimed Chinese
Artist educated in New York at the School of Visual Arts.
His Reading Sculptures are true treasures
fashioned out of the cast-offs from our information society
old phone books, newspapers, magazines and books.
Through is mastery of the band saw, Long-Bin Chen transforms
them into art works that from a distance look like wood
or marble and can be soft as fur to the touch. His seemingly
monumental forms are built so that they fit together like
pieces of a puzzle that can be dismantled to reveal their
origin the complete works of Shakespeare or a stack of
old Apartment Life Magazines.
Long-Bin Chen is the recipient of the prestigious Sculpture
award in Stuttgart and his work will be next seen in a
one man show at Mass MOCA. |
